According to LaRue County Dispatch, authorities were alerted by the Elizabethtown Police Department about a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle headed toward the county on Lincoln Parkway. The pursuit was terminated before entering LaRue County, but an alert was issued for the vehicle.
Deputy Wood later spotted the suspect near the intersection of Tonieville Road and Lincoln Parkway and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled, leading deputies down Tonieville Road and onto McCubbins Road, where the suspect failed to negotiate a curve and crashed.
The driver then fled on foot but was chased and apprehended after several hundred yards. Authorities say the suspect resisted arrest and attempted to assault the deputy before being taken into custody.
The suspect has been identified as Dusten Sauer of Pendleton. He faces multiple charges, including fleeing and evading police, assault of a police officer, DUI, possession of methamphetamine, and receiving stolen property.
