Campbellsville Baseball Captures Fifth Straight All “A” Regional Title with 8-6 Win Over Green County Dragons

Campbellsville Eagles built a 5-run lead early and held off a late charge from the Green County Dragons for an 8-6 victory on Saturday, securing their fifth consecutive All “A” Regional Title. Green County Dragons threatened late, closing the gap with a combination of an error, a ground out, a single, and a home run.

Campbellsville jumped on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Kace Eastridge doubled to bring in one run, followed by a single from Cayton Lawhorn that drove in two more, giving the team an early 3-0 advantage.

The Eagels extended their lead in the bottom of the second inning. Dax Gray doubled down the left-field line, and Kade Somerville tripled to center field, each scoring one run to push the lead to 5-0. Campbellsville added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a single hit, with Somerville launching a solo home run to center and Griffin Howard grounding out to bring in another run.

Green County Dragons responded in the top of the sixth inning, scoring three runs on a home run to center field by Andrew Houk, making the game close at 7-6.

On the mound for Campbellsville, Kace Eastridge earned the win, pitching three and one-third innings while allowing two hits and two runs (none earned), striking out six and walking three. Somerville provided three and two-thirds innings of relief, surrendering eight hits and four runs while striking out four with no walks.

Tatum Durrett took the loss for Green County Dragons, lasting one and one-third innings and giving up five runs on six hits while striking out one and walking one.

At the plate, Campbellsville totaled nine hits. Gray and Somerville each collected two, while Gray, Somerville, and Lawhorn each drove in two runs. Green County Dragons posted 10 hits, with Houk driving in four runs on a 2-for-3 day. Drew Squires led the team in hits going 3-for-4, while Caleb Corbin and Larson Matney each recorded multiple hits. Green County Dragons finished the game error-free.

The victory cements Campbellsville dominance, capturing their fifth straight All “A” Regional title in impressive fashion.
