LEBANON, Ky. (April 11, 2026) – On Friday, April 10, 2026, at 6:26 P.M. EDT, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers were requested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to respond to a two-vehicle injury collision on KY 49 (Bradfordsville Road) in Marion County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Jacob Buckingham, 35, of Bradfordsville, was traveling south on KY 49 in a 2014 Ford F-150. While in a no-passing zone, Mr. Buckingham entered the northbound lane of KY 49 to attempt to pass another vehicle that was also traveling south on KY 49. Mr. Buckingham met a 2011 Honda Civic traveling north on KY 49, operated by Mason May, 21, of Lebanon, and the two vehicles collided in a head-on manner.
Mason May was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner. Jacob Buckingham was transported to Spring View Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Fire/EMS, Lebanon Fire Department, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Detective Weston Sullivan is investigating the collision.
