Barbara Aliene Cox Givens

Barbara Aliene Cox Givens of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late David Willie Cox and Norma Marie Osborne Cox, was born on Wednesday, November 15, 1933 in Greensburg and departed this life on Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025 at Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 91 years, 8 months, and 22 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Liberty Separate Baptist Church and attended Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in her earlier years. She was a homemaker for many years caring for her children and grandchildren. She worked at American Needle Craft, Fruit of the Loom, as a lunchroom lady for Green County School System, and as a farmer.

She was united in marriage to Buford Cave Givens for 51 years having united in marriage on September 23, 1950, who preceded her in death on December 18, 2001.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law: Kerry Michael Givens and Bonnie of Bowling Green, Rodney Keith Givens and Annette of Campbellsville, Mark Kirby Givens and Anna of Greensburg, Craig Kent Givens and Markita of Auburn; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister: David Ella May of Bowling Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother: Crawford Edgar Cox; seven sisters: Mildred May Coffey, Dorothy Katherine Givens, Nellie Lee Downey, Annie Ramona Livesay, Sally Matt Shuffett, Fanola Simpson Upton, and Mary Nancy Cox.

The funeral service for Barbara Aliene Cox Givens will be conducted at 11 A.M., Central Time, Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Liberty Separate Baptist Church with burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4 until 8 P.M., Central Time, Friday, August 8, 2025 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 9 A.M., Central Time, Saturday at Liberty Separate Baptist Church until time of the funeral service.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund, Ebenezer Cemetery Fund, or Liberty Ladies Fellowship which can all be made at the funeral home.
