Belva Magdaline Parrish

Belva Magdaline Parrish of Elk Horn, was born May 31, 1941, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late George Allen Uhrig and Bertha Hayes Uhrig Cottingham. She was raised by her mother Bertha and Lawrence Cottingham, who was like a father to her. She departed this life on March 5, 2025, at her home. She was 83 years of age.

She was of the Catholic faith and was a homemaker. She enjoyed planting flowers, dancing, cooking, and being with her grandchildren.

She had united in marriage to William Parrish, and he preceded her in death in 2000.

She is survived by two children: Lisa Morgan and Dakota Roberts along with ten grandchildren: David McCarthy, Ronald McCarthy, Cathy McCarthy, Keith McCarthy, Shelly Smithson, Sean McCarthy, Ricky McCarthy, Amber Eldridge, Kindell Buchanan, and Taylor Buchanan. Five great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Dane, Alexis Dane, Aaden Eldridge, Kynslee Eldridge, and Kolten Eldridge. Also, one brother, George Shelton of Tennessee, and a sister Bea Uhrig.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three children: Ronnie McCarthy, Keith McCarthy, and Belva Smithson; three sisters; and one brother: Betty, Juanita, Margie, and Larry; and also a sister in infancy.

The family would like to give special thanks to her special hospice caregivers: Karen, Kristy, and Amy.

According to her wishes, cremation was chosen, and there will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 P. M. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the L. R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville.

Rev. Amy Call will officiate.

The family requests visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.

Memorials are suggested to be donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be made online or at the funeral home.
