Campbellsville Fire & Rescue Completes Challenging Water Rescue at Green River Lake

Special Operations personnel with Campbellsville Fire & Rescue responded to a water rescue this weekend at Green River Lake after a routine call for a “boater in distress” quickly turned into a complex operation.

According to officials, the situation escalated due to extremely shallow water, waist-deep mud, and powerful wind gusts approaching 50 mph. These difficult conditions made accessing the stranded boaters particularly challenging for rescue crews.

To reach the individuals, first responders deployed both powered rescue boats and paddle crafts, navigating through the hazardous environment to reach the mud flats where the boaters had become stuck. Despite the challenging terrain and strong winds, crews were able to successfully reach the pair and bring them to safety.

Fortunately, both individuals were rescued without any injuries.
