Campbellsville High School Hall of Famer Rick Wilson Receives Bob Miller Service Award

During the 2026 Kentucky High School Boys Basketball State Tournament, Rick Wilson was honored with the prestigious Coach Bob Miller Service Award, presented by the Kentucky High School Coaches Association.  The Bob Miller Outstanding Service Award—named in honor of Bob Miller—recognizes individuals who exemplify Coach Miller’s lifelong dedication and unwavering commitment to high school athletics across Kentucky. This award celebrates those who have made a lasting impact on student-athletes, programs, and the broader sports community through service, leadership, and integrity.

Rick is a 1970 graduate of Campbellsville HS. He was a standout multi-sport athlete, being named Courier-Journal All-State Honorable Mention in 1970. Rick continued his basketball career at WKU and Campbellsville University.

His love for sports transitioned from competition to contribution following his college career. Rick began his professional career as the Sports Editor for the Central Kentucky News-Journal before joining H + W Sports. Over the last 50 years, he has travelled across Kentucky working closely with high schools. His collaboration has extended to organizations such as the KY Association of Basketball Coaches, The KY Football Coaches Association, the KY High School Coaches Association, and the KY Athletic Administrator Association. He has also been involved with the 2A State Tournaments and countless regional events.

Rick has been inducted into the 5th region Athletic Directors Hall of Fame (2006), the KY Softball Hall of Fame (2001), and the Campbellsville High School Athletic Hall of Fame (2022). In a recent tribute to his decades of commitment and influence, the 5th Region All-Tournament Boys and Girls Teams were renamed the Rick Wilson 5th Region All-Tournament Teams.

Rick Wilson has long been a cornerstone of the Campbellsville, Kentucky community, dedicating decades of service to both collegiate and high school athletics. For 25 years, Rick oversaw the operation of the football scoreboard at Campbellsville University, while also serving as the official scorekeeper for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. His commitment extended beyond game-day duties, as he played a key role in establishing the 12th Man Club—a group devoted to welcoming prospective football student-athletes and their families during home games, helping create a strong sense of community and connection.

Rick’s impact is equally profound at his alma mater, Campbellsville High School. There, he has volunteered in countless capacities, most notably spending more than 30 years keeping the official scorebook for the boys’ basketball program. His consistency, reliability, and passion have made him a trusted and respected presence for generations of players, coaches, and fans.

Rick is married to Tammy Ford Wilson, and together they have 2 sons, Connor and Aidan. Connor is married to Karson, and they recently welcomed their first child. Aidan is currently a junior at Campbellsville HS. Rick’s family also includes two older sons, Robbie Wilson (and Cara) and Eric (and Amy) Wilson, and 3 grandchildren: Catherine, Ryanne, and Kamden Dean.
