Success Story:

Many times, we cannot discuss patient information, good or bad due to HIPPA standards but one of the highlights of the month occurred on May 22, 2026, when Campbellsville-Taylor County EMS and Campbellsville Fire-Rescue responded to a patient experiencing severe respiratory distress. Shortly after responders arrived, Mr. Alec Dempewolf suffered respiratory arrest that progressed to cardiac arrest.

Immediate resuscitation efforts were initiated by EMS and fire personnel. Through rapid intervention, teamwork, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) measures, return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) was achieved prior to arrival at the hospital.

Today, (Wednesday, June 3, 2026) Mr. Dempewolf has been discharged from the hospital, has no neurological deficits, and has returned home to his family. He recently stopped by headquarters to personally thank the responders involved in his care.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of training, preparation, and teamwork. While no single individual can take credit for a successful outcome, this case demonstrates what can be accomplished when EMS and fire personnel work together to provide exceptional patient care.
