Donald William Parker, 80, of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. He was born in Tell City, Indiana on February 1, 1943, the son of the late Jesse and Wilhelmina Briggman Parker.
Don served as a policeman for Campbellsville and Taylor County for more than 15 years. He began singing Southern gospel music at age 19 and sang with several groups including The Servants and The Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marilyn Sams Parker; sons Todd Parker (Elisa) of Louisville and Kent Parker (Amy) of Campbellsville; daughter Holly Parker Kessler (John Wayne) of Campbellsville; brother Jerry Parker (Joretta) of Campbellsville; sisters Melinda Parker Smith of Danville and Ann Parker Keltner of Campbellsville; grandchildren Wesley Parker, Alex Parker, Lydia Parker, Miles Parker, Peyton Kessler, and Parker Kessler; stepson Ron Sams (Jennifer); stepdaughter Dawn Sams Slaton (Stewart); and step-grandchildren Joshua Slaton (Haley), Chelsea Sams, Marisa Sams, and Anslee Sams.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Southside Baptist Church located at 557 Memphis Junction Road, Bowling Green, KY with Rev. John Lowe and Rev. Kinnith Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour. Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home.
