The Green County Board of Education has appointed Mr. Ben Davenport as the next Superintendent of Green County Schools. Mr. Davenport will officially assume the role on July 1, 2026, following the retirement of current Superintendent Mr. Will Hodges on June 30.
Mr. Davenport is completing his 25th year in education, all of which have been spent serving the students, families, and staff of Green County Schools. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership roles across the district, including teacher/director of the Green County Alternative Center, assistant principal and principal of Green County Primary School, principal of Green County Intermediate School, principal of Green County High School, and most recently Assistant Superintendent.
Mr. Davenport holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University and maintains certifications in superintendent, instructional supervision, principalship, and pupil personnel services.
Board Chair Marcy Goff said the Board was confident Mr. Davenport was the right choice to continue leading the district forward.
“Mr. Davenport has dedicated his career to serving Green County Schools and has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to our students and staff,” Goff said. “The Board of Education is excited about the future of our district under his leadership and believes his experience, relationships, and vision will continue moving Green County Schools in a positive direction.”
“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Green County Schools,” Davenport said. “Green County has always been home to me, and I am incredibly grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board of Education. I look forward to continuing to work alongside our outstanding staff, students, families, and community as we move our district forward together.”
Outside of school, Davenport enjoys farming and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Green County and have three children, Hilary, Brayden, and Emilee. Davenport is also a proud “Mo” to Easton, Copelee, and Corie.
Green County Schools would also like to express sincere appreciation to Mr. Will Hodges for his years of dedicated leadership and service to the district and community.
