Linzie A. “J.R.” Bishop

Linzie A. “J.R.” Bishop passed away and entered his heavenly home on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Summitt Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, KY. He died from Parkinson’s and was a strong man fighting the battle. He was a Man of God, loved jogging and golfing, bicycle riding, and above all he was a true family man.

He retired from Tennessee Gas after 35-plus years. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church and loved his Sunday School class. He loved to run marathons and was a star baseball and basketball player for Green County schools.

He leaves behind all who loved him dearly. His wife Darlene Parson Bishop, daughters: Traci Lobb, and Jennifer Tucker, and companion Larry Agee. Grandsons: Dr. Brandon Frank (Sarah), Colton Lobb (Hanna), a granddaughter: Lindsay Brown (Josh), Nine great-grandchildren: Caleb Frank, Noah Frank, Hope Frank, Anna Kate Frank, Jonah Lobb, Evie Lobb, Wylder Brown, Joss Brown and Karter Brown. 

Also surviving is a brother: Larry Bishop (Brenda), A sister-in-law, and brother-in-law: Jackie and Billy Coffey. Special friends: Mike Mitchell, and Jimmy Bishop, and a special caregiver: Juanna, along with a host of many friends who loved him dearly. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Linzie and Cora Bishop along with three sisters: Janet Bishop Diamond, Inex Bishop Ennis, and Exie Bishop Burress.

 There will be a funeral service for Linzie A. “J.R.” Bishop on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Bro Todd Young will officiate.

The family has requested visitation on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 12:00 P. M. until the time of the service.
