On August 4th, 2025 around 7:20pm, Deputy Luke Mudd and Deputy Noah Settles stopped at a residence in Willisburg for a narcotics investigation along with Greater Hardin County Drug Task Force. After discovering that the resident was trafficking synthetic drugs, Sheriff Deputies approached the house. One of the owners came to the door and let out a pitbull-mix dog.
The owner was told to put the dog away. The dog then proceeded to attack Deputy Mudd, causing multiple puncture wounds to his arm. Deputy Mudd attempted to spray the dog with pepper spray. The dog would not release at which point the dog was shot to prevent further bodily injury. The owners had no veterinarian papers nor proof of vaccination. Deputy Mudd was transported to Springview Hospital.
Consent to search was given for the residence where more drugs were found: notably- synthetic drugs, pipes, unknown liquid substance and suspected meth.
